A Brief History....
We are the oldest, most established gymnastics facility on the central coast!
In the 1972 when Anne Flores, current gym owner, and her family moved to
Atascadero, CA there was no gymnastics facility on the whole central coast.
Her mother and her friend decided to start a gymnastics program so that their
own children could benefit from this great sport. They started out as an
after-school gymnastics program at Atascadero High School. After a few years
of positive response to the program, they knew the community would benefit
from a private gymnastics school that could offer all of the gymnastics events
in a larger and safer facility for children of all ages and that was the birth of
"Atascadero School of Gymnastics". They rented the Masonic Temple (located
by Atascadero Junior High) where they stayed until the early 80's. In 1983, the gymnastics school was sold to an on-staff dance instructor for the gymnastics school. In 1985, she moved the program to its current location on La Linia. It was then
purchased in 2000 by a coach who had coached there for many years and
was also a gymnast there as a child. She then sold it to her manager/director,
Anne Flores in the spring of 2006.
About the Owner
Anne Flores started gymnastics back in the 1970's in the program that her
mother established and continued with it for six years. She then went on to
pursue her interest in dancing for the next couple of years. She returned to
the gymnastics world at 16 when she became a gymnastics instructor at
Atascadero Gymnastics. Through the years she continued to coach while
managing a medical office. In 1997 she exclusively came to work for
Atascadero Gymnastics as a coach and office manager. When the school
changed ownership in 2000, she stayed on board as office manager and
started directing the gymnastics program. When she purchased it in 2006 it
was a smooth transition. She brought a fresh new look to the facility with
new equipment and fun training accessories.
